Supported Housing: Loreto Bray
Loreto Bray is a substantial historic property in Bray, Co. Wicklow, formerly home to the Loreto Sisters, an order with a long tradition of education and community service in Ireland.
Tiglin acquired the site in 2024 as part of its ongoing expansion of supported accommodation and community services across the country.The building carries weight. For generations it served the local community through education. That legacy of purpose sits well alongside what Tiglin does, and shapes the long-term vision for the site.
About The Programme
At present, Loreto Bray is operating as a temporary accommodation centre for individuals and families displaced by the war in Ukraine. The centre has capacity for 67 residents and provides a safe, staffed environment where people can find stability while navigating an uncertain situation.
The focus right now is practical: safe housing, access to essential services, and a sense of community for people who have been through significant upheaval. Residents are supported by Tiglin staff in accessing health, education, and social services in the Bray area.
The longer-term plan for Loreto Bray is to develop the site into a consortium of community services, bringing together organisations focused on housing, wellbeing, education, and integration under one roof.The specifics of that development are being worked through.
What is clear is the type of place Tiglin wants it to become: not a single-service facility, but a hub where different kinds of need can be met in the same community and organisations can work alongside each other effectively.
