Aftercare Program
Location: Greystones, Co. Wicklow
Duration: 7 Months
Purpose: Supporting graduates of residential rehabilitation to rebuild their lives in a community setting.

Completing residential rehabilitation is a significant achievement. The transition back into everyday life without the structure of a centre around you, is where many people are most at risk. The Aftercare Programme exists for that reason.
This programme provides 7 months of continued support for graduates of Tiglin's residential programmes, giving them the structure, skills, and community connections they need to sustain their recovery.
The programme runs from Coolnagreina, the hub of Tiglin's reintegration work in Greystones. Residents continue therapeutic classes and recovery groups, work toward accredited qualifications through our SETU partnership, and access the Community Employment Programme (one of the top 3 CE schemes in Ireland), as a structured pathway back into work.
In 2024 alone, the programme delivered 16,695 treatment sessions across 29 individuals. Graduates leave with more than sobriety. They leave with qualifications, employment experience, and a realistic plan for independent living.

Community Integration
7 months of structured reintegration, built around employment, education, and independent living.
Phase 1: Arrival & Assessment
Each man is assigned a case manager and a personal care plan in the first week. The early focus is stability by establishing routine, building trust, and creating the foundation aftercare requires.
Phase 2: Continued Therapeutic Support
Individual counselling, key working, and group sessions continue throughout the 7 months. Celebrate Recovery and SMART Recovery groups run alongside clinical support, and the multicomponent model tracks progress across every area of a person's wellbeing.
Phase 3: Education & Employment
Through our SETU partnership, participants can continue toward QQI Level 6 qualifications and beyond. The Community Employment Programme provides structured work placements with a €500 annual training budget per participant. Courses have included Addiction Studies, Psychology, Counselling, Barbering, and a BA in Addiction Studies and Community Development.
Phase 4: Preparing for life after
As the programme progresses, the focus shifts to permanent housing, sustained employment, and community integration. We work with Wicklow County Council and other housing bodies to support residents into HAP, private rentals, and other long-term accommodation. By graduation, each person has a plan for what comes next, and the relationships, qualifications, and support network to act on it.
