Our Team Biography: Having worked for many years in the homeless sector, Phil Thompson cut his teeth in the Ceder House Facility in Dublin city centre. While there, he had a passionate desire to help those homeless individuals who were caught in addiction. In 2008, Phil Thompson co-founded the first Tiglin facility in Ashford, County Wicklow and became its Manager. Phil is now the CEO of the entire organisation. He is skilled in Management, Research, Harm Reduction, the development of evidenced based practices and holds an Accenture Award for Academic Excellence. Gary believes that there is no such thing as a hopeless case and understands the effectiveness of Faith-Based Treatment. Qualifications: Professional Diploma Clinical Leadership HDIP Social Care Degree Addiction Studies Biography: As men's centre manager, Ger Ganley oversees operations, programs, and services tailored to the diverse needs of our male residents. He has fostered a supportive environment promoting rehabilitation, men's mental health, personal development, health education, and well-being through counselling, workshops, and community outreach. His role involves proactive leadership, collaboration with stakeholders, and implementing strategies to address relevant societal issues impacting men. He always aims to create a safe space where men feel empowered to seek help, connect with peers, and navigate the challenges they face in their lives. Qualifications: Hdip in Business Hdip in Applied Social Care Biography: Alex has played a leading role in addiction recovery services in both residential and community settings for over 25 years. During that time, he has had cutting edge training from distinguished researchers and practitioners in the field. Speaking of his work, he says, “What motivates me is a desire to see men healed and restored, discovering and using their gifts, enjoying family life and participating in their communities in positive and fulfilling ways.” Qualifications: Higher Cert Addiction Studies BA (Hons) in Addiction Counselling MA (1st Class Hons) in Chaplaincy & Pastoral Work Biography: Lara has been working in the field of addiction for over 12 years. As manager of the Women’s Centre, Lara oversees the operations, program development and general running of the centre and the individuals in care. It is Lara’s priority to maintain person centred care by emphasizing individual care plans within the context of the whole person model of recovery. This is done through counselling, group work, recovery classes, college, personal care plans, art therapy, baking, gardening, fitness and times of laughter and fun together. Lara believes that recovery is total life change and as a result seeks to create a safe, caring environment to foster healing and freedom. Qualifications: Diploma in Addiction Counselling Bachelor of Arts Psychology Hdip in Applied Social Care Master of Arts by Research Biography: Allen has been involved with Tiglin since 2016, firstly through a volunteer capacity. However, since taking on the role of service manager, Allen has transformed the service into "a living room for those in need of one." Allen assumed prior roles within Tiglin, where he supported young people in their recovery. However, interestingly, he previously worked in a volunteer capacity and then as part of an employment program at the Lighthouse. He takes a very pragmatic approach to problem-solving and homelessness as a whole ensuring that the clients receive a superb service. Qualifications: HDip in Applied Social Care (level 8) MA in Child Youth and Family Studies MA in International Relations Biography: Adrienne started as the Office Administrator within the organisation and is currently in a senior Executive Administration position. Adrienne has organised many Tiglin events, such as visits of from a number of government ministers, celebrities & the Irish President, as well as organising fundraising events. Adrienne has solidified herself as the organisation's liaison by operating through her motto that good order is the foundation of all things. Qualifications: Third Level Diploma in Accounting Technician Diploma in Marketing Diploma in Book Keeping & Payroll Biography: Kevin has worked in the field of addiction for over 15 years. He has held various roles, including Team Leader at the Tiglin Men’s Centre in Ashford since 2008. He has gained a considerable amount of experience in helping people in our care through their journey in rehab and reintegrating back into society. He enjoys one-to-one settings and helps and supports people to attain what is best for them on their personal journey. In his current role, he works in conjunction with a wider multidisciplinary team and other relevant agencies and acts as an advocate where appropriate. He facilitates each person's journey with education, training, and upskilling where necessary to help them become more employable. This includes elements of personal development that contribute to the well-being of each individual. Qualifications: Diploma in Counselling and Psychotherapy H-Dip in Arts in Applied Social Studies (Professional Social Care). Biography: Jay has been working with vulnerable adults and homeless individuals for the past five years. Alongside his work, he has obtained an honours degree and two Master's degrees. For his work in Tiglin's at the Lighthouse, Jay has been awarded the Irish Red Cross Young Humanitarian Award of 2020. Having performed various social care roles, Jay has gained an insight into every aspect of the Tiglin work that he now uses in the communications dept. Alongside his role, Jay is also championing Tiglin's overseas work in South Africa. Qualifications: MA in Peacekeeping and International Development Ma in Child, Youth and Family Studies Professional Diploma in Leadership & Management HDip Professional Social Care Biography: Stephen is a natural leader with an innate sense of what it takes to advance himself and our clients. Stephen has worked with people for many years and is very familiar with systems and organisation. Prior to assuming his current role, Stephen managed the employment scheme at the Lighthouse, all of his experience and training give him the ability to connect with those who reach out to Tiglin for help. Qualifications: Information Technology Level 7 Digital Marketing Level 6 Microsoft Office Diploma Biography: Bronagh has 15 years' experience working in the homeless and addiction sectors, 8 of those years spent within the homeless accommodation field. Those years were spent working across the different thresholds of homelessness and substance misuse, working alongside the voluntary, private, and HSE agencies. He has Vast Experience and knowledge of the needs of adults and children in homelessness, having spent 4 years as an outreach coordinator. Being a practitioner of the field, Bronagh understands the complexities involved in each case. Vast understanding of the sector and the principles within the multidisciplinary team. Qualifications: DRHE Homeless prevention and intervention DCU undergraduate level 8 in Addiction studies Community Drug and Alcohol Diploma Vast toolbox of core training Biography: Born in 1965 in Kazakhstan, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Although his parents were native Germans, he grew up speaking Russian for the first 11 years of his life. Emigrated from Kazakhstan to Germany in 1976. He worked as a Russian-German translator before becoming a youth worker in Hanau, Germany. Following his theological study, he became an ordained pastor to the ministry in Hanau in 1997 where he served 12 years as senior Pastor of the congregation. In 2008 he came to Greystones to serve as a pastor in the Nazarene church. In 2023 Erich started working as chaplain of Tiglin, supporting the staff and residents of all the centres and the Lighthouse. He completed the ASSIST training for suicide prevention and am currently completing the level 8 certificate course in SETU, “Meeting the Challenge of Challenging Behaviour.” Qualifications: Applied Linguistics Master Of Divinity ASSIST Training for Suicide Prevention Currently Completing the Level 8 Certificate Course In SETU, “Meeting the Challenge Of Challenging Behaviour.” Biography: Fiona is the dedicated manager of Coolnagreina for almost 2 years, bringing a wealth of experience and a passion for supporting others. After taking time out to raise a family, Fiona found her calling in assisting and supporting our Ukrainian guests to settle and thrive in Ireland. Fiona thrives in the unpredictable nature of her every day to day work, finding fulfilment in the variety and challenges it brings.
